Commander's Corner

.

Hello and Welcome to the McMinnville Composite Squadron's New Webpage!

Since its inception in December of 1941, the Civil Air Patrol has supported the community, state and nation by actively engaging in our three congressionally chartered missions:

1.  Providing a dynamic leadership program that enables local youth, aged 12-20, to learn about and practice leadership and management skills, develop their character, support their community, challenge themselves mentally and physically, and engage in activities that are exciting and fun.

2.  Always prepared, both in the air and on the ground, members of the Civil Air Patrol perform emergency services for state and local agencies as well as the federal government as the official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and for states/local communities as a nonprofit organization. Ever vigilant, these true patriots make a difference in their communities, not only to assist in times of disaster but also to search for the lost and protect the homeland.

3.  Expand our awarding-winning aerospace education programs which promote aerospace, aviation and STEM-related careers with engaging, standards-based, hands-on curriculum and activities. These programs shape the experiences and aspirations of Americans both in and outside of CAP’s program.

Our squadron has been supporting the Yamhill and Polk county area for over 30 years.  We have partnered with many different organizations in the area to provide one of the best youth opportunities in the area and have provided over 200 local youth with experiences that will last throughout their lifetime.  In addition, many of our members have moved on to assist the community in other ways.

We currently have a large number of vacancies within our programs.  I highly encourage you to come to one of our meetings and check out our program.  We have different roles for people to fill, young and old.

Are you a prior service military NCO or other veteran?  Do you want to wear a uniform again?  We can really use your help in our program.

Are you looking at a career in aviation?  Come talk to us.  We have a large network of personnel in the aviation fields.

Interested in model rockets or airplanes?  We recently started our model rocketry program and would love for you to come join us in building and launching them.  We also occasionally see an airplane or two...

Need something to do on the weekends?  Our squadron tries to conduct as many weekend activities as we can support.

Nothing on the television on Tuesday nights?  Come on down and support your local squadron!

We meet on Tuesday nights at the Evergreen Aviation Museum theater building from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.  Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings and see what we have going on.

Thanks for taking a look!
